Kentucky coach Mark Pope gave a somewhat encouraging injury update on guard Kerr Kriisa during his weekly radio show Monday night.
The fifth-year guard was averaging 4.4 points, 3.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 17.3 minutes per game when he broke his foot in a win over Gonzaga in December.
“Kerr is out of the boot for at least little segments of the day, which he’s excited about,” Pope told Tom Leach during the radio show. “It’s not full-time, but he’ll kind of begin some rehab here in the next couple of weeks, and then it’s just a matter of seeing how fast and cleanly he can progress.
“So we still don’t really have a timeframe, but we’re making progress on that.”
Pope has not said a lot specifically about the injury Kriisa suffered Dec. 7 and while he won’t be back this week against Texas A&M and Alabama, maybe it is not a long shot to think he could be back Jan. 25 when the Cats play at Vanderbilt.

I’m sure many other fans are wondering, as I am, if Kerr will be eligible for a medical redshirt this season? Would LOVE to have him back next year at full strength for a full season!
think it will depend on when he returns
After 5 years I think he will be off to the NBA. Probably a late first or early second round.
He’s not getting drafted. He will probably go play in Europe unless he decides to try for a medical redshirt. It’s a 12 week full recovery and that means sometime in early to mid March.
Kerr, we miss you and I know you miss playing. Get healed up…completely. We don’t need you to come back too soon and aggravate your injury. We will need you for the tourney runs.
