Lady Rockets Run Past Trigg To Stay Perfect at Home

Crittenden County turned a one-point lead in the first quarter into a 21-3 run and beat Trigg County 50-38 Tuesday at Rocket Arena in Marion.

The win improved the Lady Rockets to 13-3 on the season and a perfect 8-0 on their home floor.

Both teams were sluggish early. Crittenden County was playing its second game in as many nights and coming off an emotional win over Lyon County in the 2nd Region All A Classic championship. Trigg County was playing its first game in 10 days because of the weather.

Up 4-3, the Lady Rockets turned to its defense to get transition buckets and build a 33-14 lead by halftime. Andrea Federico scored all 14 of her points in the first half, including a shot ahead of the halftime horn.

While the Lady Rockets were not hitting from the outside, they did get several easy looks in the first half and outscored Trigg 34-18 in the paint for the game.

Trigg County turned the basketball over 27 times, leading to 26 points for the Lady Rockets. Outside of the turnovers, Trigg County was competitive in every other statistical category. Both teams shot 36% from the field and Trigg was 5-fo-10 behind the arc.

The Lady Wildcats also held a 28-27 advantage on the boards although Crittenden had 12 second-chance points to just four for Trigg.

Federico and Jordyn Hodge each scored 14 points for the Lady Rockets. Elliot Evans had eight points and Anna Boone contributed four points, six rebounds, and seven assists.

Crittenden County improved to 3-1 in the district as they keep alive their hope for a number one seed.

They will be in action Friday at Livingston Central before heading to Owensboro next week for the All A Classic State Tournament where they will play the 15th region winner.

Trigg County got 16 points and six rebounds from Reese Bush and Alivia Norwood added 12 points. They each knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.

The Lady Wildcats dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in the district. They will play at Lyon County on Friday and still have two games left with Livingston Central as they seek to climb out of fourth place in the district standings.

Trigg County also announced it will make up its game with Paducah Tilghman lost last week due to the weather next Tuesday in Paducah.
