Offensive struggles during the middle of the game were the undoing for the Fort Campbell Falcons Thursday night. The Falcons put up a total of 17 points in the second and third quarters as Montgomery Central turned a four-point first quarter deficit into a 17-point lead on the way to a 59-43 win.
With Tyreek Anthony opening hot, the Falcons jumped out to a 13-9 lead after the first eight minutes of the night. Anthony scored 8 points in the first quarter for Fort Campbell.
The Montgomery Central defense limited Fort Campbell to just three field goals in the second quarter as the Indians battled their way back to take a 27-22 lead.
Montgomery Central kept the heat turned up on defense as the second half got rolling. The Indians allowed the Falcons just two field goals in the third quarter as the lead increased to 47-30 heading into the final quarter.
Tyreek Anthony had another big quarter to close out the game, scoring 13 points in the fourth, but the Falcons could not make any headway as the Indians held on for the 16-point win.
Anthony finished the night with 25 points to lead the Falcons. Israel Dillard added 9 points for Fort Campbell.
Montgomery Central was paced by Christian Fox with 26 points. Noah Nicholson and Ja’Shaun Ewing added 10 points each for the Indians.
Fort Campbell falls to 1-12 with the loss. The Falcons are set to host Heritage Christian Friday night on post.
