He’s been questionable to play in each of Kentucky’s two last games but Andrew Carr not only played but also scored 13 points in each game in wins over Mississippi State and Texas A&M.
He was a combined 11-for-17 from the field in the two games and also had 10 rebounds and two assists.
Carr has been slowed by a back injury that has kept him from practicing but not playing. He still won’t be 100 percent Saturday when UK hosts Alabama but again the forward is expected to play.
Coach Mark Pope is looking forward to next week when Carr will have a full week between games.
“We’re kind of scratching and clawing to stay alive right now. And then we’ll be able to put three days together next week where hopefully we can make some progress (with Carr’s back),” Pope said Thursday. “But right now he’s kind of on no practice, and just hope we can tape him together for the game.
“That’s kind of how we’ve been rolling the last two weeks. He’s been fighting and battling and being really effective in the games. He’s dying to play. We’ll piece it together.”
Kentucky obviously needs the Wake Forest transfer at his best against Alabama, which is coming off an upset loss at home to Ole Miss. Carr is averaging 11.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game and hitting 54.8 percent from the field. He has scored in double figures 13 games with two double-doubles.
In Kentucky’s five games against top 15 teams, Carr has been UK’s leading scorer twice and has averaged 15.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in those five games and has shot 62 percent from the field. He has played 27.8 minutes per game.

Carr is a heady player and is very good at playing within his ability. I really like this group of players that Pope had to "throw" together.
IMO he’s having back trouble because he recently got engaged:)
If Carr can give us 10 minutes each half, that will be enough. Almonor is playing with more confidence and Williams has stepped up as well. Bama will try to shut down Robinson so that means Brea will get more opportunities. Butler is rumored to be questionable for tomorrow. If he can give us 5 minutes each half, Perry will be ready, and Chandler will get some PT.
