After setting the program’s single-game scoring record in a win over Crittenden County earlier this month, Heritage Christian Academy’s Jason Leek duplicated that performance on Friday with 51 points in a 79-67 victory over hosts Fort Campbell.
Currently the state’s second-leading scorer, Leek may find himself back at the top of the list after helping the Warriors snap a three-game skid and pick up their first 8th-District win of the season.
Leek nearly outscored the Falcons in the opening quarter with 13 points. Israel Dillard scored nine for Fort Campbell, but HCA led 20-15 after one.
Leek again scored 13 of the Warriors’ 20 points and they doubled up the Falcons in the second frame for a 40-25 halftime advantage.
However, Fort Campbell responded after the break behind 10 third-quarter points for Israel to trim five points off the margin. Tyreek Anthony added seven for the Falcons to pull them to within 54-44 with a quarter to play.
But Leek would have the final say, hitting for 20 in the fourth quarter to close out the win. Dillard scored eight to finish with a team-high 27 for the Falcons.
Leek was to lone Warrior in double figures. HCA shot 24 for 36 at the free throw line.
Anthony added 19 for the Falcons, who won the rebounding battle 31-27.
HCA improved to 4-11, 1-2 in district play, ahead of a visit from Dawson Springs on Saturday.
Fort Campbell slipped to 1-13 with a matchup with Christian County coming up on Monday.
