After battling back from a first-half deficit on Friday at Evansville Christian, the Dawson Springs boys’ basketball team saw a late lead disappear in a 56-52 defeat to send the Panthers to their third-straight loss.

Rex Blue got started on a big night for the Panthers with five points in the first quarter, but Hunter Redd and Kaden Naab combined for nine to put the Eagles in front 16-13.

Deacon Dever had five in the second frame but Dawson Springs was held to single digits.  Naab added six to score 10 in the first half, sending Evansville Christian to a 27-22 halftime advantage.

But the Panthers tightened the defensive screws after the break to hold Evansville Christian to only six points in the third.  Blue knocked down a pair of three-pointers to score eight and help Dawson Springs outscore the Eagles 14-6.

With Dawson Springs leading 36-33 to start the fourth, Blue dropped 12 points to finish with a game-high 29.  But Naab posted 10 on the way to a team-high 23, and Ozzie Bates added seven to sink the Panthers.

Dawson Springs slipped to 8-9 ahead of a trip to Hopkinsville to face Heritage Christian Academy on Saturday.
