A strong second quarter performance by Evansville Harrison kept the Hopkinsville Tigers from extending their winning streak to three games Friday night. Harrison broke open a close game and took a 19-point halftime lead on the way to a 71-58 win in Evansville.
The Tigers knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter and trailed just 14-11 after one.
Harrison limited Hopkinsville to just three field goals and three free throws in the second quarter as the offense got cranked up and the Warriors ran out to a 39-20 halftime lead.
Coming out of the half, Hopkinsville honed in on defense and cut the lead to 48-34 heading into the final quarter.
The Tigers, led by Jonathan Hart and James Bradley Jr., had a big offensive final quarter but could not slow down the Warriors enough to make much headway as Harrison rode it on out to the 13-point win.
Jonathan Hart led three Tigers in double figures with 16 points. James Bradley Jr. finished with 15 points and Deavery Ramey added 14.
Hopkinsville drops to 6-11 with the loss. The Tigers are slated to get back to action Saturday against Castle.
