
Six medalists helped Caldwell County’s girls bring home a second-place team finish in the Clash of Artemis at Spencer County High School in Taylorsville on Saturday.
Caldwell’s girls totaled 130 points to trail only Harrison County, which had 156.5 points. Walont-Verona took third with 96.5 points and Henderson County was fourth with 86.5.
The Lady Tigers did not have any individual champions, but did have runners-up in four different weight classes.
At 100 pounds, Sophie Parrish pinned her first two opponents before falling to Emma Moore of Walton-Verona 16-1 in the finals.
Emilee Klidzejs also won her first two matches by pin at 120 before being pinned by Camara Carter of Louisville Manual in 1:06 in the championship match.
At 152, Anna Urbanowski received a first round bye, then won by pin in the semifinals. She was pinned by Danville’s Chelsea Pelayo in 1:38 in the finals.
Virginia Stewart was 2-1 while finishing second at 235. She fell to Layla Davis of Harrison County 15-0 in the first-place match.
Caldwell had two other wrestlers medal with third-place finishes.
Jessie Jenkins was third at 126. She won four straight matches after dropping her opener. Jenkins pinned Lexi Bowlin of Harrison County in the third-place match.
Keirli Herran took third at 145. She won three straight matches after being pinned in her first match. Herran pinned Mary Jane Rogers of Harrison County in the third-place match.
The Lady Tigers had three others finish fourth — Aniyaree Wilson at 114, Hailey Scott at 165 and Payten Simmons at 185.
Seventeen schools competed in the event.
The Lady Tigers are scheduled to go to Anna-Jonesboro next Saturday in Anna, Illinois.
