Lexington’s Josh Teater carded a 5-under par 67 Tuesday to sit three strokes off the lead at 14-under 202 heading into the final round at the Korn Ferry Tour’s Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at the Abaco Club.
Teter posted a bogey-free round Tuesday with five birdies to trail tournament leader Sudarshan Yellamaraju. The Canadian owns a 17-under 199 score through 54 holes following a 7-under 65 Tuesday.
“I just continued to hit the ball where I was looking and drove it really nice. I had a lot of really good looks and left a few of them out there,” Teater said. “I was really scared of making a bogie only one time. I was able to chip in for par on the par-5 14th hole. The same hole I eagled yesterday. That was huge for sure. I was playing well today and didn’t want to go backwards on a par-5 like that. It was huge to keep that momentum going and make a birdie on 18.”
The former Morehead State star turned pro in 2001 and has played in more than 200 events on the PGA Tour. Teter owns 18 Top 10 finishes and one tournament win (2020 Puerto Rico Open) in his professional career. He has qualified for the PGA three times through the Korn Ferry Tour (2009, 2018, 2023), including a 26th-place finish in 2023.
“My caddie, Chris and I like the same kind of music, like Andy Mineo,” Teater said. “He’s got a song named ‘Dance.’ We’re just going to try to keep doing our dance out there, picking our targets and making free aggressive swings at those targets and have fun while we’re doing it.”
Teater gained entry into both of the Korn Ferry Tour’s first two events of the 2025 campaign – The Bahamas Golf Classic at Atlantis Paradise Island and the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at the Abaco Club – through a sponsor’s exemption from Lexington-based sports marketing firm bdG Sports. He made the cut last week in Nassau before tying for 45th place at 6-under 274.
In all, six players from the Bluegrass State are competing in the Bahamas this week. Lexington’s Caleb VanArragon was the only other Kentuckian to survive Tuesday morning’s 4-under 142 cut. He enters Wednesday tied for 17th at 11-under 205.
Georgetown’s Ashton Van Horne (2-under 142), Owensboro’s Matt Atkins (even par 144), Louisville’s Jared Wolfe (1-over 145) and Scottsville’s Owen Stamper (1-over 145) had their tournament runs conclude after 36 holes.
Florida native Hank Lebioda, who won medalist honors last week at the Bahamas Golf Classic at Atlantis Paradise Island is tied with South African Christo Lamprecht for second place at 16-under 200. Japan’s Kensei Hirata ranks along in fourth place at 15-under 201.
The Golf Channel will air Wednesday’s live final-round coverage from 1-3 p.m. ET. Live scoring of the event is available on the Korn Ferry Tour website at https://www.pgatour.com/korn-ferry-tour/leaderboard.
The top 20 players on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Points List will earn 2026 PGA TOUR membership, with the season-long standings finalized after the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance in mid-October.
This week’s event features a competitive field including 21 PGA TOUR winners, collecting 38 total wins and 45 Korn Ferry Tour winners, achieving 68 total KFT wins. Six of the last seven Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at the Abaco Club victors have gone on to earn their PGA TOUR Card at the conclusion of the season.
