Paducah Tilghman got a big third quarter from senior MaKeyah Carruthers as the Lady Blue Tornado broke open a close game and pulled away for a 68-38 win over the Trigg County Lady Wildcats Tuesday night in Paducah.
Carruthers scored 11 points in the third as Tilghman turned a 35-24 halftime margin into a 52-29 lead.
Trigg County battled and hung with the Lady Blue Tornado through the early part of the game. Veyda Grinols scored six points in the first quarter as the Lady Wildcats trailed just 21-15 at the end of the first.
Tilghman got a little breathing room in the second, pushing the margin out to 11 points at the half.
After the big effort from MaKeyah Cattuthers in the third quarter, Tilghman closed it out by making 6 of 12 at the line in the fourth to take the 30-point win.
Alivia Norwood had a big night for the Lady Wildcats with 16 points. Veyda Grinols also hit double figures with 11. Cali Jones added 5.
Makeyah Carruthers was the leading scorer for Paducah Tilghman with 18 points. Myiesha Smith was right behind her with 17 points.
Trigg County drops to 2-12 with the loss. The Lady Wildcats will be back in action Friday night at home against Livingston Central.
