The Webster County Lady Trojans picked up their first win of 2025 Thursday night. Webster County ended a 7-game losing streak by running last the Dawson Springs Lady Panthers 67-27.
The win continued a long winning streak in the series for the Lady Trojans. Webster County has not lost to the Lady Panthers since before the 1998-99 season. The 1999 meeting between the two teams is as far back as the KHSAA site goes.
Webster County got off to a good start in this one and kept rolling from there, controlling the game all the way through on the way to the 40-point win.
Led by Jaycie Wright, the Lady Trojans took a 23-6 lead after the opening quarter. That lead grew to 44-14 at the half.
Webster County kept rolling on as the second half got underway. The Lady Trojans extended the lead to 58-20 after three quarters and brought the running clock into play.
Baylee Swatzell was Dawson Springs’ leading scorer with 8 points. Ashtyn Swatzell added 6 points and Emmie Colson ended up with 5 points.
Webster County’s Jaycie Wright led all scorers in the game with 21 points. Hannah Yates also hit double figures with 15 points.
Dawson Springs drops to 4-9 with the loss. The Lady Panthers are set to get back to action Friday night at home against Community Christian.
