Trigg County closed with the final eight points to hand Livingston Central a 78-70 defeat on Friday at Wildcat Gym.
The win moved the Wildcats to 3-1 in district play and was the 12th straight over their 5th District rivals.
The back-and-forth affair featured nine ties and 12 lead changes before Lance Breckel buried a corner 3-pointer with 58 seconds left to break a 70-all tie. The Wildcats hit 5-of-6 shots in the final seconds and kept Livingston without a field goal for the final 2:50.
The Wildcats hit 9-of-25 shots from behind the arc but scored 40 points in the paint thanks to 20-of-29 shooting inside the arc.
Davaree Gude slashed through the Livingston defense to the tune of 28 points for the Wildcats. He also grabbed 12 rebounds.
Caleb Fogle hit 5-of-11 threes and added 19 points for Trigg, who finished 29-of-54 (54%) from the field.
Trigg’s outside attack offset a big night from Livingston’s Logan Wring, who scored 29 points and pulled down 17 rebounds – 11 on the offensive glass.
Reese Davidson added 13 points, and Mason Hargrove added 10 points for the Cardinals, who dropped to 2-2 in the district.
The Wildcats are 3-1 and in second place in the district standings.
Trigg County will host Hickman County on Saturday as part of the Chappel Allen Memorial Classic at Wildcat Gym.
