Colonel Swimmers Take Large Leap in Region Pool

Christian County finished in eighth place at Saturday’s Region One Swim Championship held at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center.

Their team score of 80 points was a 54-point improvement over last year’s region score.

Shemar Barker was eighth in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:42.54 and 11^th in the 50-yard freestyle in 31.47.

Kolton Parker was 10^th in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:50.94 and 19^th in the 50-yard freestyle in 36.07.

Sam Peck was 11^th in the 200-yard freestyle in 3:01.37 and 18^th in the 50-yard freestyle in 36.03.

Jackson Downey was 21^st in the 50-yard freestyle in 38.67 and 21^st in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:30.58.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Sam Peck, Kolton Parker, Shemar Barker, and Jackson Downey finished in sixth place in 2:47.41. The same group finished in seventh place in 2:20.17.

The top two finishers in each event automatically qualify for the state first round on Feb. 8 at Bowling Green High School. The next ten times in the event from Regions 1-3 will also qualify
