The Fort Campbell Falcons put an end to their 13-game losing streak Saturday. The Falcons got their usual big game from Tyreek Anthony and came from behind in the 4th quarter as they took a hard-fought 53-51 win over Century High School.
The win was the first for the Falcons since a December 7 win at Fulton City.
Anthony and Israel Dillard opened hot for the Falcons, combining to score 15 first quarter points as Fort Campbell took a 20-7 lead after one.
Century got the offense going in the second quarter and started chewing into the lead. By the half, the Fort Campbell margin was down to 33-27.
The Century defense limited the Falcons to just three field goals in the third quarter as the momentum kept flowing in that direction. Century took a 44-40 lead into the final eight minutes.
However, the Falcon defense clamped down and Dillard and Anthony helped lead Fort Campbell back to take the 2-point win.
Fort Campbell was leading 50-49 with 15.5 secs left when Century called for a timeout they did not have. Tyreek Anthony made both free throws. Century then fouled Jamile Wilson, who made 1 of 2 at the line, which then rendered a last-second basket meaningless as the Falcons got the 53-51 win.
Tyreek Anthony finished with 20 points for the Falcons. Israel Dillard had 17. Jamile Wilson just missed double digits with 9.
The Falcons (2-15) are set to get back to action Monday in an 8th District contest when they host the Christian County Colonels.
