
Madisonville-North Hopkins had four automatic qualifiers for the state first round – two individual and two relays – following Saturday’s Region One Championship at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center in Hopkinsville.
Emma Tagg won the 50-yard freestyle in 26.38 seconds and was part of two relay teams that also qualified automatically.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Addison Howard, Adison Melton, Audrey Tate, and Tagg won with a time of 1:48.63. They repeated as champions in the 400-yard free relay with a time of 3:39.69.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Addison Howard, Adison Melton, Ellen Eveland, and Emma Tagg came in second place in 2:02.61.
Ellen Eveland came in second place in the 100-yard fly in 1:11.94 and was third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.56.
The top two finishers in each event automatically qualify for the state first round on Feb. 8 at Bowling Green High School. The next ten times in the event from Regions 1-3 will also qualify
Addison Howard was third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.85.
Adison Melton was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:14.82.
Audrey Tate was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.95 and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:01.07.
As a team, Madisonville came in fourth place. Murray repeated as region champions with 422 points followed by Fort Campbell (261), Henderson County (235), and Madisonville (228).
