The Henderson County Lady Colonels used a big offensive first quarter to take control of their game against the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Monday night. Henderson put up 34 points in the first eight minutes and rolled to a 76-42 win in a game played a Christian County High School due to a shattered backboard at Hopkinsville High.
Henderson County came out blazing from behind the arc. The Lady Colonels drained six 3-pointers in the opening quarter as they took a 34-10 lead after one. Four Lady Colonels scored at leas six points in the quarter.
The Hopkinsville defense was able to slow Henderson down some in the second quarter. Still the lead grew to 50-19 at the half.
Hopkinsville continued to keep Henderson County under control in the third quarter, but the Lady Tigers could not make any headway on the offensive end. Hopkinsville got solid quarters from Lashanti Wilson and Alicia Davis but still trailed 65-27 going into the final quarter.
With the running clock in play, the final quarter went by quickly as Henderson County took the 34-point win.
A big night for Alicia Davis for the Lady Tigers. The senior finished with 20 points. Lashanti Wilson also hit double digits with 12.
ATylia Green was the leading scorer for Henderson County with 18 points. Brooklyn Gibson added 14 points. Callie Burnett ended up with 8 points. Ten different Lady Colonels found the scoring column in the game.
Hopkinsville (6-9) is now off until next Tuesday when the Lady Tigers will host Fort Campbell.
