After losing by 18 points during the holidays, the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm took the Marshall County Lady Marshals down to the wire Monday night. Marshall County took a halftime lead and then fought off a charge from the Lady Storm in the second half to pick up a 55-50 win in Draffenville.
Tyah White had a great night for the Lady Storm, finishing with 27 points.
Kenzlee Terry made four three-pointers in the second half to help the Lady Marshals hang on for the win.
Behind Terry and Addi Wall, Marshall County took a 15-9 lead after the opening quarter. Tyah White helped the Lady Storm stay close, scoring 6 points over the first 8 minutes.
White scored six more in the second quarter but the Lady Marshals contained everyone else as they worked the lead out to 26-18 at the half.
Coming out of the break, the Lady Storm went toe-to-toe with Marshall County. Marshall County could find no answer to slow down Tyah White, who scored 10 more in the third quarter, but still the Lady Marshals were able to do enough to actually extend their lead to 42-33.
Hopkins Central came charging at the Lady Marshals in the fourth quarter. Tyah White, Braylee Marsh, and Calajia Mason sparked a rally that got the Lady Storm close. However, Marshall County, thanks to the outside shooting of Kenzlee Terry and the free throw shooting of Skylar Waller was able to hold on for the win.
In addition to the 27 points from Tyah White, Hopkins County Central got 11 points from Calajia Mason and 7 points from Braylee Marsh.
Kenzlee Terry finished with 21 points to lead Marshall County. Skylar Waller added 16 points, including 10 of 11 from the free throw line.
Hopkins County Central (11-9) goes on the road to Dawson Springs Friday night for a 7th District contest.
