Wharton Scores 27 in Christian County Win at Fort Campbell

The Christian County Colonels used a big night from junior Zyon Wharton to roll to an 8th District win over the Fort Campbell Falcons. Wharton scored 27 as the Colonels took the 76-41 win.

Christian County came out rolling from the beginning Monday night. Zyon Wharton scored 12 and NaDarien Rowe added 7 in the opening quarter as the Colonels bolted out to a 23-10 lead.

Wharton scored 9 more in the second quarter as the Colonels kept the pressure on and extended the lead to 44-21 at the half.

Tyreek Anthony came out of the break and had a big quarter for Fort Campbell in the third. But the Falcons could not chew up any of the lead as the quarter ended with Christian County ahead 59-32.

The Colonels continued to pull away through the fourth quarter to the final 35-point margin.

In addition to Zyon Wharton’s 27 points, Christian County got 9 points each from Jay Henderson and NaDarien Rowe. Tom Johnson added 8 points for the Colonels. Eleven different Christian County players scored in the game.

Fort Campbell was paced by Tyreek Anthony, who had 22 points. Israel Dillard was the other Falcon to reach double figures with 10.

Christian County (5-16) heads to Bowling Green Tuesday night to take on Warren Central.

Fort Campbell (2-16) will be on the road Thursday night to take on Community Christian.
