Big Third Quarter Propels Lyons Past Livingston Central

Playing for the first time since a heartbreaking loss in the All “A” Classic state title game, Lyon County’s Bray Kirk and Nolan Coffman each knocked down four three-pointers and the Lyons used a 32-point third quarter to down hosts Livingston Central 85-73 on Tuesday.

The Lyons ran their district mark to a perfect 5-0 to improve to 15-5.  Livingston Central dropped its third in a row to slip to 5-13, 2-3 in district play.

Logan Wring, Mason Hargrove, and Brady Stone each scored five points in the opening quarter for the Cardinals, but Kirk and Coffman combined for 10 and Carson Collins added four for an early 21-17 Lyon lead.

Wring scored nine of the Cardinals’ 12 points in the second frame, but Kirk countered with 13 to help the Lyons stretch the lead to 40-29 at halftime.

Coffman connected on two of his four second-half three-pointers to score 11 in the third.  Isaac DeFew added eight, and Lyon County outscored Livingston 32-19 to push the margin to 24.

With the Cardinals looking to stage a comeback, Wring scored nine of his game-high 29 points in the fourth.  Reese Davidson chipped in eight, but it wasn’t enough to trouble the Lyons.

Kirk led Lyon County by 24, Coffman scored 22, DeFew finished with 16, and Collins had 14.

Stone and Hargrove both finished with 11 to join Wring in double figures for the Cardinals.

  1. I’m a little surprised you didn’t mentioned the incident that happened in the first half with a fan throwing a 1/2 full soda can on to the court near a Ref and Lyon Co player or the 4 technical fouls called.
