For a quarter Tuesday night, the University Heights Academy Blazers looked as if they might pull off their biggest win of the season. Turns out that quarter got the attention of the Bowling Green Purples. Bowling Green used a second quarter offensive outburst to take firm control of the game against the Blazers and rolled to a 109-65 win in Blazer Gym.

Getting a good start from Jaiden Miles, the Blazers took a 22-19 lead after the opening quarter. Miles, playing his best game of the season, scored 8 points in the quarter as UHA took the 3-point lead.

But then the Purples caught fire and the Blazers could not cool them off. Bowling Green knocked down five 3-pointers in the second quarter, four of them from Jace Wardlow, as the Purples put 32 points on the board and took a 51-36 lead at the break.

The Purples stayed hot coming out of the break. Bowling Green drained five more 3-pointers in the third quarter as the lead ran out to 78-46.

Nine Bowling Green players scored in the final quarter as the Purples continued to pull away for the win. The 109 points was the most allowed by the Blazers since they gave up 114 to Lyon County in last year’s All A Classic 2nd Region championship game.

Tylin George had another big game for the Blazers, finishing with 30 points. Jaiden Miles added 12 points and F.J. Thomas had 8.

Jace Wardlow led four Purples in double figures with 28. Braylon Banks had 20. Kadyn Carpenter hit for 19 points and Luke Idlett added 13.

UHA drops to 4-11 with the loss. The Blazers are set to get back to action Friday night on the road at Christian County.
