After responding to a lopsided early-season loss to Lyon County with a victory in the All “A” Region championship, the Crittenden County Lady Rockets sent a 5th-District message on Friday with a 63-37 win over the visiting Lady Lyons.

Both teams finished at 5-1 in district play with the tiebreaker to be determined at the district tournament meeting.  Crittenden County improved to 17-4 ahead of a showdown on Tuesday with fellow 2nd-Region contenders Christian County.

Elliot Evans drilled a trio of three-pointers in the opening quarter to help the Lady Rockets to an early 19-8 advantage before Anna Boone dropped 13 points in the second to build a 36-20 lead at the break.  Piper Cotham accounted for half of the Lady Lyons’ first-half points.

Crittenden County shut the door on any hope of a Lyon County comeback with a dominant third quarter.  Boone and Evans combined for 12 points in the frame to stretch the margin to 27 points with a quarter to play.

Boone led all scorers with 26 points, followed by Evans with 14 for the Lady Rockets.

Cotham was the lone Lady Lyon in double figures with 23.
