
The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm have now completed a perfect run through district competition. The Lady Storm completed that task Friday night with a 62-24 win on the road at Dawson Springs.
Hopkins County Central got control of this one early. The Lady Storm came out of the gate and took a 9-0 lead. After a basket from Baylee Swatzell cut it to 9-2, the Lady Storm lowered the boom with a thunderous 16-0 run that pushed it out to 25-2. The quarter ended with Hopkins County Central up 30-4.
Addie Menser got off to a big start for the Lady Storm, scoring 12 points in the quarter.
The second quarter started with the Hopkins County Central starters getting some time on the sideline. The Lady Storm reserves struggled a bit to get the offense going, putting up just one point over the first four minutes of the second quarter.
The good news for the Lady Storm was that their defense allowed just four points over that same time span
Hopkins County Central starters returned to the court for a big part of the final four minutes of the half and closed out their time in the game strong. The Lady Storm finished the 2nd quarter with a 18-4 run to take it to the half leading 49-12.
The running clock was in play for the beginning of the second half and the Lady Storm starters were finished for the night and starting to rest up for Saturday’s game against regional contender Christian County.
Not much offense for either team in the third quarter as each managed just one field goal. The quarter ended with Central up 54-17.
From there it was just a matter of the final margin as reserves saw extensive action for both squads over the final 8 minutes.
Addie Menser led Hopkins County Central with 16 points. Tyah White was also in double figures with 11. Bri Dulin scored 7, all in the first quarter.
Baylee Swatzell was the only Lady Panther to hit double figures with 13 points. Alyssa Allison finished with 6 points.
With the win Hopkins County Central moves to 12-9 overall and 6-0 in 7th District play. The Lady Storm will host Christian County Saturday afternoon at 2:30.
Dawson Springs drops to 5-11 overall and 0-5 in district competition. The Lady Panthers will host Heritage Christian Academy Saturday night.
