
The Todd County Central boys’ basketball team slipped to 0-3 in 13th-District play with a 77-50 defeat at Franklin-Simpson on Friday night.
Brett Harris knocked down a pair of threes in the opening quarter to keep the Rebels within three points, but Franklin-Simpson blew the game open with a big second frame.
After Cole Shearer carried the Wildcats with eight points in the first quarter, Alan Johnson connected on a trio of three-pointers and Kam Ray added seven points to help Franklin-Simpson outscore Todd Central 24-11 for a 37-21 score at the halftime break.
Ray and Shearer combined for 12 points in the third quarter and Ja’Kai Partinger added five for Franklin-Simpson. 8th-grader Spencer Pool scored five for the Rebels, but the margin was 14 points with a quarter to play.
Xavier Hampton posted six points in the fourth to help the Wildcats snap a four-game skid and improve to 5-12 with their second district win of the season.
Connor Holder led the Rebels with 13 points. Ray led all scorers with 15 for Franklin-Simpson, Shearer had 14, and Brody McAlister finished with 12.
Todd Central slipped to 1-21 ahead of a trip to East Robertson, TN on Tuesday.
