
The Caldwell County Lady Tigers have a three-game winning streak entering some key matchups later this week.
Caldwell’s girls never trailed while claiming their 15th straight win over Dawson Springs on Tuesday.
Morgan Aikins had 12 points as the Lady Tigers picked up a 57-18 victory at Panther Gym in Dawson Springs.
Caldwell’s win finalized the pairings for the 7th District tournament, which will be played in Princeton later this month.
Hopkins County Central has the No. 1 seed and will play No. 4 Dawson Springs in one semifinal.
Caldwell County and Madisonville-North Hopkins will square off in the other semifinal. The Lady Tigers could still take the No. 2 seed from Madisonville by beating the Lady Maroons Friday night at the CAB gym, but those two teams will meet in the district tourney, regardless of which team is seeded second and which team is seeded third.
Caldwell, now 9-10 overall and 2-3 in district play, ran out to a 23-8 lead after one quarter and took a 38-10 advantage to halftime.
The Lady Tigers hit the 35-point mercy rule for a running clock with 5:28 left in the third period. That made it 47-12.
It was 54-12 entering the final frame.
KeDarriah Thompson had nine points for Caldwell while Tink Clark, Grace Watson and Davani Williams had seven apiece.
For Dawson, Baylee Swatzell and Emmalynn Colson each scored six points. The Lady Panthers are now 6-12 and 0-6.
Caldwell now holds a 92-10 lead in the all-time series with Dawson and has taken 30 of the last 31 get-togethers.
The Lady Panthers next go to Crittenden County on Friday.
The Lady Tigers will head to Lyon County for a matchup against their longtime border rivals on Thursday. Caldwell then hosts Madisonville on Friday.
