
Clinging to a two-point lead to start the fourth quarter on Tuesday, the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team couldn’t hold on in a 63-59 loss to hosts East Robertson, TN that extends the Rebels losing streak to 16 games.
Devin Schutt helped the Rebels to an early 13-10 advantage with seven points in the first quarter. John Ross Cardwell scored seven in the second frame, but the Rebels were outscored 15-10 to trail 25-23 at halftime.
Luke Hall and Talon Evans combined for 10 points for East Robertson in the third. However, Cardwell chipped in four and the Rebels held the Indians to only 10 points to regain the lead at 39-37 with a quarter to play.
Cardwell added six points in the fourth to finish with a game-high 17, but it wasn’t enough for the Rebels to pull out the win. Jaylon Bass scored 7 for East Robertson and Hall and Evans teamed up for eight to snap the Indians’ eight-game losing streak.
Schutt joined Cardwell in double figures for the Rebels with 14. They will be on the road on Friday for a 13th-District matchup with Logan County.
