The Fort Campbell boys’ swim team will have seven entries at Saturday’s KHSAA State First Round Swim Meet at Bowling Green High School.
Senior Jonah Weisbrich is the third seed in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.38 achieved at the region meet. He is just over two seconds behind the top seed, Miller Bowman of Owensboro Catholic. Weisbrich finished 21st at the state championships last year.
Weisbrich is also the ninth seed in the 200-yard IM, 12 seconds off the time of the top seed Zach Preen of Elizabethtown.
John Stultz is seeded 10th in the 200-yard freestyle. His region time of 1:56.84 is 13 seconds behind the top seed Lochlan Huerth of Central Hardin.
John Stultz is seeded 12th in the 100-yard butterfly. His region time of 58.34 seconds is nearly seven seconds behind the top seed, Warren Woodall of Bowling Green.
Samuel MacNab is seeded 16th in the 500-yard freestyle. The eighth grader’s time of 6:14.43 at the region meet is 1:27 behind the meet’s top seed Kenan Aganovic of South Warren.
Fort Campbell’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Stultz, Weisbrich, Thomas Griffin, and Luke Szody is the ninth seed at the state first round. Their region time of 3:39.30 is 24 seconds behind the top seed, South Warren.
The same group is the seventh seed in the 200-yard medley relay. Their region time (1:48.19) is ten seconds behind the top seed, Murray.
There are nine swim regions in the state with state first round consisting of Regions 1-3, 4-6, and 6-9.
Regions 1-3 are comprised of schools in western Kentucky, the Bowling Green area, and the Elizabethtown area.
The top three swimmers and relay teams in each event automatically qualify for the state championship round in Lexington. The next best 15 times from the three other state first-round sites will also qualify.
The Boys’ State First Round will begin Saturday afternoon at 4:00 at Bowling Green High School.
The Girls State Championship sponsored by UK HealthCare will be Friday, February 21 at the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The guys will swim on Saturday, February 22.
