To say Livingston Central’s Logan Wring had a good night down on post Thursday night might not be doing his performance justice. Wring finished with a career-high 47 points as the Cardinals won for the third time in the last four games with a 66-58 win over Fort Campbell.

Wring’s big game overshadowed another big combination night for the Falcon duo of Israel Dillard and Tyreek Anthony, who combined to score 50 points for Fort Campbell.

The Cardinals opened the night by scoring the first six points of the game. Logan Wring caused the Falcons all kinds of problems down in the paint as the Cardinals took the early lead.

Fort Campbell finally got on the board with 5:10 to go in the opening quarter when Jamile Wilson found the basket down in the lane to make it 6-2. The Falcons continued to battle and pulled even on a basket from Israel Dillard to make it 9-9.

The first quarter ended with the Cardinals holding a 14-12 lead.

The game stayed tight throughout the second quarter. Tyreek Anthony came up with a steal and a slam that gave the Falcons a 27-25 lead inside the final minute of the half.

However, Logan Wring sent Livingston to the break with a 28-27 lead on an old fashioned 3-point play with 5.9 seconds to go in the half.

To say Wring controlled the first half for the Cardinals would be a vast understatement. The Livingston big man scored 26 of the 28 points and had an assist on the only basket he did not score.

On the Falcons’ side, it was more of a two-man show at the break as Israel Dillard and Tyreek Anthony combined to score 23 of the Falcons’ 27 points.

The Cardinals came out of the break and started to look more to get some help for Wring on the offensive end of the court. The big man scored four early points in the third as the Cardinals pushed the lead out to seven. But bearing the entire load looked to be having a fatigue factor on Wring. Bryson Walker came up with some big plays in the quarter to get Wring a respite from being the only offense for the Cardinals, scoring 9 points in the third.

Fort Campbell closed to within one point at 34-33, only to see the Cardinals hit a quick 7-0 run to push the lead out to the biggest of the night at 41-33 with 2:49 to go in the third. The lead would reach as many as nine before the quarter ended with Livingston up 48-40.

The Cardinals were blistering hot from the field, going 8 of 9 of the field with the only miss being a three-quarter court heave at the horn.

Fort Campbell opened the final quarter turning up the defensive heat on the Cardinals. The Falcons scored 6 points in the first 50 seconds of the fourth to cut the lead to 48-46 and prompting a Livingston Central timeout.

Out of the timeout, Israel Dillard grabbed a rebound and went coast-to-coast and the game was tied with 6:40 to go.

It was then Logan Wring time for the Cardinals and the big man went to work. Wring scored 10 points in the first half of the quarter as the lead moved back out to six. Wring and the Cardinals then held off a Fort Campbell rally attempt, going 6 of 10 at the line in the fourth, and using their defense to help keep the Falcons at bay as Livingston Central took the 8-point win.

In addition to Wring’s 47 points and 15 rebounds, Bryson Walker scored 11 points for the Cardinals.

Israel Dillard continued his hot play of late with 27 points. Tyreek Anthony ended up with 23 points. Jamile Wilson added 6.

The loss drops the Falcons to 3-18 for the season. Fort Campbell is on the road Saturday to take on Allen County-Scottsville.
