Second Half Surge Carries McCracken Past Christian County

A strong second half performance was the difference Thursday night for the McCracken County Mustangs. The Mustangs rallied from seven points down at the half to take a 59-45 win over Christian County at Lyle Dunbar Gym.

The Colonel defense was the story early on as Christian County limited McCracken County to just one field goal in the first 8 minutes on their way to a 12-5 lead. NaDarien Rowe had a big quarter for Christian County, knocking down three shots from behind the arc.

Free throw shooting kept the Mustangs in the game in the second quarter. McCracken County hit 8 of 11 at the line as they stayed with the Colonels, going into the break still down 7 points at 24-17.

The Mustangs offense then got rolling as the second half started. Led by Dylan Jackson, McCracken County scored 5 more points in the third than they had in the entire first half as they roared back to go up 39-35 going into the final quarter.

With the lead in their hands, the Mustangs slowly pulled out to the final 11-point margin over the last 8 minutes of the game.

Christian County had three players reach double figures in the contest. Rahsean Stevenson led with 12 points. NaDarien Rowe ended up with 11 points and Kam Williams scored 10.

The Mustangs only had one player in double figures and that was Dylan Jackson, who ended up with 20 points.

With the loss, which was the third straight, Christian County falls to 5-19 on the season. The game is the first out of three games in this home stretch for Christian County. They will play University Heights Friday night.
