Livingston Central Upends Lady Storm

The Livingston Central Lady Cardinals came up with a strong defensive 4th quarter on the road Friday night as the upset the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm 55-47. The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Lady Cardinals.

The game was close from beginning to end. With Victoria Joiner leading the way, Livingston Central took a 15-14 lead after the opening quarter. Calajia Mason had a big start for the Lady Storm with 12 points in the opening quarter.

Hopkins County Central pulled back even in the second quarter as the two teams went to the half knotted up at 28-28.

They continued to go back and forth as the second half started. Livingston Central led 41-40 as the third quarter came to an end.

The Lady Cardinal defense then put the clamps on the Lady Storm over the final eight minutes, allowing just one made field goal, that being a 3-pointer from Bri Dulin.

Maggie Downey and Aubrey Leahy combined to score 12 big points in the final quarter as the Lady Cardinals left Mortons Gap with the 8-point win.

Calajia Mason finished with 17 points to lead the Lady Storm but had no field goals in the 2nd half of play. Bri Dulin made three shots from behind the arc and finished with 15 points. Addie Menser had 12 points but was held scoreless in the fourth.

Livingston Central got 23 points from Maggie Downey, who knocked down six 3-pointers. Aubrey Leahy also hit double figures with 10 points.

Hopkins County Central falls to 13-11 with the loss and will now host Allen County-Scottsville Saturday evening.
