Caldwell County senior Jaydarius Wilson will play basketball at the next level at Southeastern Illinois College.
Wilson made it official Friday afternoon in the CCHS cafeteria, just ahead of the Tigers’ home game that night against Madisonville-North Hopkins.
With his 19 points in the loss to Madisonville, Wilson passed Jabrion Spikes for sixth on the Tigers’ all-time scoring list with 1,438 points. He is third on the school’s career rebounding list with 777.
Wilson is averaging 19.1 points and 11 rebound a game this season.
SIC coaches were on hand for the signing and the ballgame against Madisonville.
At 6-foot-7, Wilson has played mostly with his back to the basket throughout his high school career. However, with the Falcons, Wilson projects as more of a 3- or 4-spot player.
SIC is 14-6 this season under head coach Sam Swinford and is averaging 82 points a game. The Falcons have topped 100 points seven times this season using a 5-out offense.
Southeastern Illinois is a junior college located in Harrisburg.
Wilson has helped Caldwell to a 14-9 record this season.
The Tigers play again Monday at Trigg County.
