What began with a roar ended with a whimper for the Trigg County Lady Wildcats on Saturday as they picked up a 46-2 win over Heritage Christian Academy in a contest shortened to one half of play.

Trigg County scored the first 42 points of the game as they converted 22 first quarter turnovers by HCA into 22 points.

Trigg scored 23 points in each quarter in building its lead.

Chloe Peck’s bucket with 2:13 left in the half – her first points of the season – got Heritage Christian on the board.

About two minutes before the start of the second half and with both teams on the floor warming up, the south side of Hopkinsville, including the campus of Heritage Christian Academy, lost power due to a problem at the Caskey substation.

After a wait in the dark of nearly 20 minutes and with no guarantee of when power would be restored, the decision was made to end the game after one half.

Veyda Grinols scored 19 points in nine minutes of action for the Lady Wildcats, while AJ Navarro added 13 points.

The two points allowed by the Lady Wildcats are the fewest in a game since giving up a single point to Fort Campbell in 2019.

Ava DeJager pulled down a game-high six rebounds for Heritage Christian Academy, who fell to 0-3 all-time against Trigg County.

Heritage Christian Academy will host Fort Campbell for a district game on Monday.

Trigg County will also be in action on Monday as they host Caldwell County.
