Two Top 10 finishes, including one that qualifies him for the state finals for Madisonville-North Hopkins’ swimmer Sy Soriano Saturday at the first round of the KHSAA state swimming championships at Bowling Green High School.
Soriano came in fourth in the Boys 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 48.90. That time qualifies Soriano for an at-large berth in the state finals, where he will be seeded 20th.
The Madisonville sophomore finished in 6th place in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.52. He missed qualifying for the state finals in a second race by just .14 seconds.
The state finals will be held in Lexington.
