A big weekend for the Christian County wrestling team. The Colonels won the North Oldham Mustang Classic Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
Several wrestlers had top five finishes for the day. Anthony Velasco finished second in the 113-pound division. Kevondre Young (126), Dane Miller (144), and Tay Martinez (165) placed third in their respective divisions. And, C.J. Thacker was fifth at 150 pounds.
On the girls’ side, Lady Colonel wrestlers Serenity Avalos and Kira Caldwell both placed 4th in their class. Saoirse Bradenberg placed in the top six.
All three girls had at least one bonus point win, so as a team Serenity, Saoirse, and Kira scored 22 team points.
Next up for the girls will be the regional at Central Hardin.
