Lady Storm Snap Skid With Statement Win Over Crittenden

Reeling from a three-game losing streak ahead of Tuesday night’s matchup with Crittenden County, the Hopkins County Central girls’ basketball team knocked off the visiting Lady Rockets 55-35 in a statement performance.

Hopkins Central won for only the third time in the last 13 meetings with the Lady Rockets while handing them only their sixth loss of the season.

Bristyn Rushing scored all seven of her points in the opening quarter for Crittenden, but Hopkins Central countered with six from Bri Dulin and four each for Tyah White and Calajia Mason to lead 14-12.

The Lady Storm tightened the defensive screws in the second quarter to hold the Lady Rockets to only eight points.  Dulin, White, and Mason continued to carry the scoring load with 13 of Hopkins Central’s 17 points to stretch the advantage to 31-20 at the break.

Crittenden’s Anna Boone scored five points in the third and Jordyn Hodge had four, but the Lady Storm added three points to the margin behind seven from White.  The teams combined for only 10 points in the fourth to close out the game.

Dulin led all scorers with 18, followed by White with 15 for the Lady Storm.  Boone was the lone Lady Rocket in double figures with 14.

Crittenden County slipped to 19-6 with a matchup with 2nd Region’s top team by RPI, Henderson County.

Hopkins Central improved to 14-12 and will travel to Lyon County on Thursday.
