Clarksville Finishes Strong in Win Over Hopkinsville Lady Tigers

A strong defensive effort from Clarksville to close out the game was the story Thursday night. Clarksville limited the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers to just three free throws over the final 8 minutes as the Lady Wildcats picked up a 56-40 win in Tiger Gym.

The two teams had been tied at the break and Clarksville held just a five point lead going into the final quarter, but the Lady Wildcats did not give up a field goal in the fourth as they pulled away for the win.

Alicia Davis and Lashanti Wilson had strong starts to the game as the Lady Tigers trailed just 13-12 after the first quarter.

Hopkinsville went 6 of 6 at the free throw line in the second as the Lady Tigers pulled even at 25-25 going into the break.

Five different Lady Wildcat players scored in the third quarter as Clarksville worked out to a 42-37 head going into the fourth. Alicia Davis scored 6 in the quarter to help the Lady Tigers stay close.

Clarksville was able to pull out to the win in the final quarter in part due to going 8 of 13 at the free throw line.

Hopkinsville got 11 points from Alicia Davis. LeeLee Love added 10 points. Lashanti Wilson just missed double figures with 9.

Clarksville’s Malon Smith led all scorers in the game with 23 points. Shakiah Vance added 15 points for the Lady Wildcats.

Hopkinsville (8-11) goes on the road Saturday to take on the Crittenden County Lady Rockets.
