No. 8 Kentucky women’s basketball suffered their worst loss of the season on Thursday night when they fell to No. 3 Texas, 67-49.
The Wildcats kept things close early with a 16-14 first quarter that favored Texas but were out-scored 17-11 and 24-10 in the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach.
Star guard Georgia Amoore accounted for just 14 points on 5-16 shooting from the floor.
In addition to locking down Amoore, the Longhorns beat Kentucky both on the glass (45-28 rebounding advantage) and in the turnover battle (17-10).
The loss stings for the Wildcats but keep in mind Texas just beat South Carolina and now has a total of seven wins over Top-25 opponents.
Kentucky, meanwhile, has put together a terrific season but they have now dropped two consecutive games for the first time under new head coach Kenny Brooks.
They’ll look to get back on track in a home matchup with Georgia on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM ET with coverage on SEC Network Plus.
