Lady Storm Down Hancock County at Independence Bank Classic

With many games canceled on Saturday due to weather, the Hopkins County Central girls’ basketball team braved heavy rain and high water to travel to the Owensboro Sportscenter to face Hancock County in the Independence Bank Classic.  The Lady Storm made it worth the trip, handling the Lady Hornets 56-27 to improve to 15-13 with two regular-season games remaining.

Addie Menser got Hopkins Central started with nine points, and Bri Dulin added five to help the Lady Storm outscore Hancock County 19-6 in the opening quarter.

Hopkins Central held the Lady Hornets to only four points in the second frame to take a 29-10 advantage into halftime.

Menser capped a game-high 17-point performance with a pair of threes and eight points in the third.  Hancock County could only manage seven points against the Lady Storm pressure and the margin reached 27 with a quarter left to play.

Tijah Hobgood provided the scoring punch for Hopkins Central with nine points in the fourth.  Ansley House scored six for the Lady Hornets to tie Carolina Jones with a team-high ten points.

The Lady Storm will finish the regular season on the road with a trip to Muhlenberg County on Thursday and a visit to Webster County on Friday.

Hancock County lost its second straight and fourth in five outings to slip to 14-14.
