A knee injury in a preseason scrimmage at Crittenden County cost Caldwell County’s Nyla Sykes her entire senior season – or almost her entire season.
Sykes was in the starting lineup Friday when the Lady Tigers hosted Webster County for Senior Night.
Webster allowed Caldwell to win the opening tip and get the ball to Sykes under the basket, where she scored the first two points of the game.
Caldwell returned the favor at the other end, giving the Lady Trojans an uncontested layup.
Webster went on to win the game, but Sykes got her name in the scorebook.
