Hoptown To Send Three Wrestlers to Girls’ State Tourney

Hopkinsville will send three wrestlers to the KHSAA Girls’ State Wrestling Tournament following their top-four finishes at Saturday’s Region 1 Tournament at Central Hardin High School.

Rheanna Walker (11-7) will make a return trip to state after finishing in fourth place in the 114-pound class. She won two straight matches to reach the third-place contest before falling to Henderson County’s Kennedy Sohne.

Her twin sister Isabell Walker (8-10) took third place at 107, getting a third-round pin over Tamara Partee of North Hardin. After losing to eventual region champion Madison Leonard of Central Hardin in her opening match, Walker won her final four to reach the podium.

Anna Clark (6-11) finished in fourth place at 152. She finished her day 2-2 and fell to Jacelyn Smith of Union County in the third-place match.

Trinity Lopez (4-3) also wrestled at region in the 165-pound class, going 0-2.

With just four wrestlers, Hopkinsville totaled 43.5 points and finished in 12th place.

The Walker sisters and Clark will compete at the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Lexington on Thursday, February 27.
