
The Hopkinsville boys’ basketball team kept up its strong play down the stretch of the regular season with an 81-46 win over hosts Russellville on Monday. Jonathan Hart paced the Tigers with 24 points, including six three-pointers, for their fifth win in six outings.
Hart knocked down a pair from behind the arc in the opening quarter, and James Bradley chipped in eight points for an early 22-13 Tiger lead.
It was more of the same in the second, with Hart scoring 11 with three makes from deep and six more points for Bradley. The Tigers rolled into halftime with a 48-29 advantage and cruised after the break.
Hopkinsville held Russellville to only 17 second-half points. Hart knocked down his final three-pointer in the third quarter, and Jonovan Leavell added six points to stretch the lead.
Hart led all scorers, joined in double figures for the Tigers by Bradley with 16, Leavell with 12, and Jayon Bass with 11.
Jamarion Gardner was the lone Panther in double figures with 20.
Hopkinsville improved to 13-14 with its second straight win. The Tigers will finish the regular season on the road at Lyon County on Thursday and in Elkton to face Todd County Central on Friday.
