Trigg Buries Christian Fellowship For Senior Night Win

It was Trigg County’s Senior Night on Monday, but a pair of freshmen put up big numbers in the Lady Wildcats’ 81-38 win over Christian Fellowship.

Veyda Grinols scored 27 points and pulled down five rebounds. She hit 12 of 14 shots from the field and was 3 of 4 behind the arc.

Fellow freshman AJ Navarro scored 14 points and handed out six assists for the Lady Wildcats. She also hit 3 of 4 from 3-point range.

Their big nights complimented Trigg County’s lone senior Reese Bush, who scored 19 points, pulled down seven assists, and dished out six assists.

Trigg County got out to a 22-3 lead and never let the Lady Eagles get closer than 19 points after the first quarter.

The Lady Wildcats shot 68% from the field, hitting 24 of 34 inside the arc and 10 of 16 behind it.

The game was Trigg’s best offensive night of the season. They tallied a season-high 24 assists on 34 made baskets. Alexis Mayes had eight assists for Trigg, the most of any Lady Wildcat this season. The result was a 48-18 Trigg advantage in the paint.

Alivia Norwood added 11 points and four rebounds for the Lady Wildcats, who improved to 13-1 all-time against Christian Fellowship.

The Lady Eagles got 12 points from both Rylee Hudson and Kylee Hines, with Hines adding six rebounds and two steals.

Trigg’s 81-point output is its highest since an 83-43 win over Hopkins County Central on Feb. 14. 2011 – a night when Brooke Kearney set the single-game record with eight 3-pointers made.

Trigg County will close out its regular season Friday at Graves County.

The 5th District Tournament begins Monday at Wildcat Gym.
