In what could be a wide-open event between the top three seeds, the boys’ 8th District tournament is set to get underway Monday evening at Hopkinsville High School. The boys’ side of the tournament will be played Monday, Tuesday, and Friday night.

The seeding for the tourney has the Hopkinsville Tigers as the top seed, followed by University Heights at #2, Christian County is third, Heritage Christian fourth, and Fort Campbell is the 5th seed.

The first game of the boys’ tournament Monday night will have the Heritage Christian Academy Warriors taking on the Fort Campbell Falcons at 5:30pm.

The Warriors led by the state’s leading scorer, Jason Leek, won both regular season matchups between the two teams, winning by 12 points on post and winning by 11 at home. Fort Campbell is led by the 1-2 combination of Israel Dillard and Tyreek Anthony.

The boys semifinals are then set for Tuesday night at 5:30 and 7. The 5:30 game will have Hopkinsville taking on the winner of the HCA-Fort Campbell game, with UHA and Christian County to go at it at 7pm.

Hopkinsville beat Heritage by 40 points in their only meeting and the Tigers hold a 52-point win over Fort Campbell. James Bradley, Jonathan Hart, and Jonovan Leavell are all averaging at least 12 points per game for the Tigers.

University Heights and Christian County will then play in a loser-go-home game in the second game Tuesday night. The Blazers won the regular season game between the two 68-56. UHA has gotten healthy at just the right time and has won five straight. The Blazers are led by the high-scoring duo of Tylin George and Elijah Walton. Point guard KeShawn Moore has just returned to the lineup after suffering a broken leg in a preseason scrimmage.

Christian County is led by Rahsean Stevenson and NaDarien Rowe. The Colonels went 3-2 against district competition.

The boys 8th District title game is set for Friday night at 6:00 at Hopkinsville High School.

Tickets will be $10 per night, cash only at the gate.
