Does Odd Year Mean Lady Colonels’ Turn Again

Will the odd year-even year pattern continue or is there a way for Fort Campbell to crash the party? Those are the questions as the girls’ 8th District tournament gets underway Monday night at Hopkinsville High School.

With Heritage Christian Academy withdrawing from the district tournament earlier this season and University Heights not putting a girls team on the floor for the second year in a row, the tournament is just a three team affair.

Christian County is the top seed and has already earned a berth into Thursday night’s championship game and into the girls’ 2nd Region tournament. The Lady Colonels will play the winner of the Fort Campbell-Hopkinsville game next Thursday night at 6:00. Christian County handily won the games against the Lady Tigers and the Lady Falcons this season.

Christian County is led by the trio of Anaysia Bagwell, NeVaeh Day, and Lazarie Daniel.

The semifinal matchup Monday night will find Fort Campbell and Hopkinsville squaring off for the right to play in the championship game Thursday night and a berth in the regional tournament.

Hopkinsville has not lost a game to Fort Campbell in 20 years. The last time the Lady Falcons got a win in this series was the 2005 district tournament with a 34-30 win.

Alicia Davis, Lashanti Wilson, and Lee Lee Love, all average in double figures for the Lady Tigers.

The game is set for 7pm Monday at Hopkinsville High School.

Admission is $10 per night cash only.
