Dawson Springs made it a sweep of the top awards for boys 2nd Region basketball Friday morning and they truly kept it ‘in the family.’ The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches announced their Region Player of the Year and Region Coach of the Year for all 16 regions in the state.
For the 2nd Region coach’s award, the recipient was Dawson Springs’ coach Mickey Blue. Blue’s Panthers are 15-13 on the season and in contention for the 7th District championship. Included among their win this season was the first over Madisonville-North Hopkins in 28 years and a sweep of the regular season matchups against Hopkins County Central.
All-in-all, in was a pretty good day for the Blue household as Coach Mickey Blue’s son Rex was named the 2nd Region Player of the Year.
In a statement, Coach Mickey Blue noted “I am blessed to have been voted by my coaching peers for this opportunity. To share this at the same time Rex has been recognized is an honor. Thank you all because I know I am not easy to deal with “
