
It wasn’t the end to the regular season that the Trigg County girls’ basketball team was looking for on Friday night, with the host Graves County Lady Eagles cruising to a 70-20 victory.
Graves County extended its winning streak to 24 games to end the regular season at 27-2. The Lady Eagles await the winner of Ballard Memorial and Mayfield in next week’s 3rd District championship.
Ginger Martin scored seven first-quarter points and Hannah Glisson and Ella Kemp combined for 10 to send the Lady Eagles to an early 23-7 advantage.
Martin added nine points in the second quarter to finish with a game-high 19, giving Graves County a 50-11 halftime lead.
Veyda Grinols scored four points in the third quarter to finish with 11 for the Lady Wildcats.
Trigg County slipped to 8-20 and will face top-seeded Crittenden County in the 8th-District tournament opener on Monday. The Lady Rockets won both regular-season meetings with the Lady Wildcats.
