The Fort Campbell Lady Falcons ended their regular season Saturday afternoon and they did so with their fifth consecutive win, the first time in more than 20 years the Lady Falcons have won that many games in a row. The Lady Falcons built a big first half lead and then carried it on out for a 67-48 victory on the road at Community Christian.
The streak is the first of that length for Fort Campbell since the 2000-2001 season. That year the Lady Falcons beat Trigg County, Kenwood, Clarksville Academy, Lyon County, and Providence in five straight outings.
Saturday afternoon, the Lady Falcons got big starts from Kyndel Bradley and A’mari Grimsley as Fort Campbell got out to a 16-9 lead after one. The Fort Campbell defense limited Community Christian to just one field goal in the quarter.
The Fort Campbell defense did almost as well in the second, giving up just two field goals in the quarter as the lead grew to 38-19 at the break. A’mari Grimsley added 10 points in the quarter.
The Lady Falcons were then able to keep Community Christian at arms length for the rest of the afternoon. Fort Campbell led 54-37 at the end of the third and then outscored Community by two points to finish out the game in the fourth.
A’mari Grimsley ended up with 22 points to lead the Lady Falcons. Kyndel Bradley hit for 16. Senior Rosella Rajj added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Madison Newingham scored just 3 points but pulled down 10 rebounds.
Community Christian was led by Emma Wring with 18 points. Emma Reed added 16 points.
Fort Campbell (8-11) now gets ready to take on the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers Monday night in the semifinals of the 8th District tournament at 7pm at Hopkinsville High School.
