Falcons To Send Three Wrestlers to State, Most Since 2014

Fort Campbell will send three wrestlers to the state tournament after a sixth-place finish at Saturday’s Region 1 Tournament at Paducah Tilghman High School.

T.J. Dixon wrestled for the championship in the 150-pound class, losing to Union County’s Hunter Jenkins – the No. 2 wrestler in the state.

Dixon was Fort Campbell’s first region finalist since Ethan Tomerlin in 2018.

Ryker Kramer was third in the 106-pound class. After a second-round loss, he battled back to defeat Apollo’s Kevin Lopez with a second-round pin for third place.

Also qualifying for the state tournament was Adyn Laird at 165. He fell to Christian County’s Tay Martinez in the third-place match.

Saturday’s medal haul for the Falcons means they qualified the most wrestlers for the state tournament since 2014.

Fort Campbell had four wrestlers finish in fifth place and they will serve as alternates for the state tournament.

Andy Cintron bounced back from a second-round loss to advance to the 113-pound consolation semifinals. He was able to defeat Owensboro Catholic’s Logan Mongold with a second-round pin.

Gene Martin took fifth place at 120 with an 8-6 decision over Apollo’s Jaxton Howard.

Eithan Cassell finished fifth in the 138-pound class with a 12-2 major decision over Apollo’s Clayton Pendley.

Keshawn Dixon took fifth place at 157 with a 30-second pin of Henderson County’s Wyatt Holland.

Saturday’s medal haul for the Falcons means they qualified the most wrestlers for the state tournament since 2014.

As a team, Fort Campbell finished in fifth place with 112.5 points, 17.5 points more than sixth place Caldwell County.

Union County won its 22nd region championship by outpointing runner-up Paducah Tilghman 339-254.5. All 14 of Union County’s wrestlers qualified for the state tournament with 10 of them winning a region title.
