Hoptown to Send Two Wrestlers to State

Hopkinsville will send a pair of wrestlers to the state tournament after their top-four finishes at the Region 1 Tournament at Paducah Tilghman High School.

Jaylin Littleton advanced to the championship of the 165-pound class after an 8-4 win over Fort Campbell’s Adyn Laird in the semifinals.

In the championship, he fell to Jeremy Ray of Union County, the state’s No. 3 wrestler, in a technical fall.

Juan Cannon finished in fourth place in the 120-pound class. He fell in the championship match to Union County’s Jake Ramsey, the No. 4 wrestler in the state.

Both Littleton and Cannon will wrestle at the state tournament next Friday and Saturday at Alltech Arena in Lexington.

Also wrestling for Hopkinsville on Saturday was Nicholas Herrera (0-2) at 126; Andrew Kraft (1-2) at 144; Henry Caudill (0-2) at 157; and Alden Marshall (0-2) at 285.

Hopkinsville totaled 37 points to finish in 13th place in the team standings.
