Area Bowlers Give Solid Performances in Weekend Competitions

Several high school bowlers from the area were busy over the weekend in a pair of statewide competitions. One of those was the Regional Shootout, Saturday in Richmond. The other was the USBC ‘Masters & Queens Youth Tournament’ hosted by Dixie Bowl in Louisville.

Christian Lane represented Christian County High School in the Regional Shootout in Richmond on Saturday. Lane was representing Christian County for Region 1.

There were a total of 8 regions competing in the event and each region had 2, 5-man teams. Each person bowled two individual games and then each team bowled 5 baker games. All the games were totaled together for each region and the overall winner was determined by the total pin fall.

Christian Lane averaged 174 for his two games and Region 1 finished 6th for the day.

Lane, Christian County’s Jordan Morton, Hopkinsville High School’s Ethan Brake, HCA’s sister duo of Alayna Windle and Braelyn Windle, and Caldwell County’s Chase Lantrip, who has signed with Bresica, were all in Louisville for the USBC tournament.

Alayna Windle, bowling in the U18 Girls, finished in 18th place.

Braelyn Windle, bowling in the U15 Girls, finished 5th in the five-game series and qualified for match play.

Chase Lantrip, bowling in the U18 Boys, finished 29th.

Ethan Brake, bowling in the U18 Boys, finished in the Top 12 in the five-game series and moved on to match play.

Jordan Morton, competing in the U18 Boys, finished 50th.

Christian Lane, bowling in the U15 Boys, finished 5th and qualified for match play. Lane won his first match before falling to the top qualifier in the second round.
