Dawson Springs senior Montgomery “Gummy” Johnston entered the district tournament tied as the Panthers’ all-time leading scorer with Jerry Bruce at 1,941 points.
Johnston broke that tie with his first bucket Monday night, coming just 1:22 into the contest. He would go on to finish with 43 points in the Panthers’ win.
